Refund and Cancellation Policy

1. Purpose and Scope
This Refund & Cancellation Policy (“Policy”) outlines your rights and responsibilities regarding refunds, cancellations, and disputes for transactions made through the LocalDesi platform (“Platform”). It applies to:
- Products: Food, groceries, religious/praying items, ayurvedic goods, clothing, and household items
- Services: tiffin, cooking, cleaning, tutoring, and other home-based or field services
- Car Rentals: vehicle delivery and rental services offered by vendors on the platform
This Policy is governed by the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth) and relevant Australian Consumer Law (ACL) protections.
2. Products
Refunds Apply If:
- Items are damaged, expired, incorrect, or not delivered
- The item differs significantly from the description or photos
Refunds Will Not Apply If:
- The item was delivered correctly and in usable condition
- The request is due to change of mind or personal preference
- The packaging is damaged, but contents are unaffected
Request Deadline:
- Within 24 hours of receiving your delivery
- Must include order number and photo evidence
3. Services
Refunds or Reschedules Apply If:
- The service provider did not attend
- The service was not delivered or significantly incomplete
- You cancel at least 4 hours (or the time mentioned by the vendor) before the scheduled time
- There is a verified billing or booking error
Refunds Will Not Apply If:
- The cancellation is made less than 4 hours (or the time mentioned by the vendor) before the service was completed as described
- Dissatisfaction is based on personal or subjective preferences
- For tiffin services: Refunds only apply to future days. Delivered meals are non-refundable.
4. Car Rentals
Refunds Apply If:
The vehicle was not delivered, or is unsafe or materially not as described
The booking was cancelled by the vendor or LocalDesi
You cancelled at least 24 hours in advance
Refunds Will Not Apply If:
You cancel less than 24 hours before rental start time
You fail to appear or lack valid documentation
You cause damage or violate rental terms
5. Refund Process
Refunds are made to the original payment method
Processing time: 5–7 business days from approval
LocalDesi reserves the right to issue partial refunds, credits, or reschedules, depending on the issue
6. How to Submit a Refund Request
You can request a refund or cancellation through:

Order or Booking ID
Description of the issue
Photos or supporting documents (if applicable)
Requests must be submitted within 24 hours of delivery or scheduled booking time.
7. Your Rights Under Australian Consumer Law
LocalDesi complies with the Australian Consumer Law (ACL). Under the ACL:
You are entitled to a repair, replacement, or refund if a product or service is faulty, unsafe, or not as described
For major failures, you may reject the product/service and choose a refund or replacement
For minor issues, we may offer a remedy within a reasonable time (e.g., redelivery or fix)
You are also entitled to compensation for consequential loss or damage that was reasonably foreseeable. This Policy does not override or exclude your statutory rights under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth).
8. Policy Updates
We may update this Policy to reflect changes in law or business processes. All updates will be posted on our app and website. Continued use of the platform implies acceptance of the latest policy terms.
9. Platform Use Disclaimer
LocalDesi is a marketplace platform only. All services and rentals are delivered by independent third-party providers. LocalDesi does not guarantee service quality, safety, or availability, and is not liable for any damages, delays, or disputes arising from provider actions. By using the platform, you agree to our Service Agreement, Terms of Use, and Refund Policy.
